Hello.

I’m Sandra Bean, a visual artist living and working in Saguenay, Québec, Canada. For more than twenty years, I was immersed in the world of toy design, dreaming up playful universes and nurturing children’s imaginations through colors, shapes, and stories. As a designer and creative director, I had the privilege of crafting toys that sparked curiosity, wonder, and the simple, vital joy of play.

Yet at midlife, I felt called to transform, to shift from creating for others toward creating from within. In 2019, I returned to my hometown, longing to reconnect with what felt essential: a freer, more intuitive practice rooted in my own inner landscape. It was a turning point, an invitation to slow down and listen to a voice I had left waiting in the wings.

Today, my work explores this ongoing dialogue between memory, gesture, and presence. Through acrylic, mixed media, and ceramics, I search for the fragile beauty of childhood, those moments suspended in curiosity and play, and the spaces where adulthood feels too heavy. I assemble fragments of recollection and feeling, piecing together truths that might otherwise slip away.

Creating, for me, is a gentle form of resistance, a way to stay present, to preserve the freedom to dream, to resist being lost in the rush. Each piece I make is an invitation: to pause, to remember, and to rediscover what still dwells within.
